Maryann Cecilia Millar, 80, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2026, leaving behind a legacy shaped by love, compassion, and a lifetime devoted to her family and to helping others. To those who knew her, Maryann was a source of warmth, strength, and encouragement—a woman whose kindness left a lasting impression wherever she went.

Family was the center of Maryann’s life. She shared 58 cherished years of marriage with her beloved husband, Dick Millar, and was a devoted mother to their three children: David Millar; Meghan Sharp and her husband, Grant Sharp; and Stephanie Woollen and her husband, Joshua Woollen.

She was also a loving and proud grandmother to David’s sons, Matthew and Hunter, and to Meghan and Grant’s children, Katelyn and Benjamin. Her grandchildren brought her immeasurable joy, and she treasured the time they shared, celebrating their milestones and filling their lives with love, guidance, and cherished memories.

Maryann dedicated more than five decades of her life to education and the Washington Township School District. She began her career as a learning disabilities teacher and, through years of dedication and leadership, rose to become Supervisor of special education and related services, the position she held when she concluded her remarkable career in 2023.

Through her compassion, advocacy, and unwavering commitment to children with special needs, Maryann made a lasting difference in the lives of hundreds of students, families, teachers, and colleagues. Her work was far more than a career—it was a calling.

Maryann earned her bachelor’s degree in special education from Glassboro State College and continued her education at Montclair State College, earning her master’s degree in 1975. From the beginning of her career in 1968 until her retirement in 2023, she remained committed to ensuring that every child received the education, encouragement, support, and opportunities they deserved.

Maryann will be remembered for her deep love of family, her generous heart, and her lifelong commitment to helping others. Her influence can be seen not only in the family she cherished but also in the countless lives she touched throughout her extraordinary career.

Although she will be deeply missed, Maryann’s legacy of love, compassion, and service will continue through her husband, children, sons-in-law, grandchildren, and every student, parent, and colleague whose life was made by her presence.
