Americo Borges Pinho, age 75, of Budd Lake, NJ died Friday, October 25, 2024 at Merry Heart Health Care Center, Succasunna, NJ.
Americo was born December 13, 1948 in Valega, Portugal to the late Manuel Joaquim and Amelia (de Silva Borges) de Pinho Chilbante. Americo joined the Portuguese Army in 1969, serving 2 years in Angola. After returning home, he married Maria Alice de Silva Marques in April of 1972. In 1980 he moved his family from Portugal to the United States to join other family members who had moved there prior to that. They settled into the Portuguese community in Elizabeth, NJ where they lived for many years before moving to Piscataway, NJ and finally Hackettstown/Budd Lake, NJ. He was employed by Falcon Industries in Somerset, NJ for many years before retiring. As a young man he truly enjoyed being outside and could often be seen riding his motorcycle. He was an avid soccer player and also enjoyed traveling, dancing and losing to his granddaughter McKenzie at dominoes. He was always willing to lend a helping hand no matter how much hard work it would require. In his later years you could find him keeping busy outdoors, helping a neighbor or puttering around in his garage.
He always enjoyed a good meal followed by a nice glass of Port wine. Americo was predeceased by his brother Antonio Pinho. He is survived by his wife Maria Alice (de Silva Marques) Pinho. His daughter Carla and husband John Mandick. His 7 brothers & 3 sisters, many nieces, nephews & cousins. His granddaughter McKenzie.
