It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Constance J. Pryce, 88, who left us on July 23rd, 2026, in Daytona Beach, FL.

Born on August 10th, 1937, in Hackensack, NJ, Connie was raised by her parents, Ethel and Cecil Hardy, in Teaneck. She attended Teaneck High School before going on to receive her BA in English from Shelton College, where she met her husband, George Pryce. While raising their two children, Betsy and Evan, Connie worked as a substitute teacher at Hackettstown High School and as a full-time teacher at Warren Tech. She then went on to earn her MA in English from William Paterson University. Shortly after, Connie and George moved down to Daytona Beach, where she would become well-known in the community as an English teacher at Mainland High School. While at Mainland, Connie was an executive board member of the Florida Council of Teachers of English, where she was recognized with both an honor award and an outstanding professional service award. After retirement, she remained involved as a state committee member for the Florida Department of Education.

Connie loved her daily crossword puzzles, watching Jeopardy, creative writing, and spending time with her family. She and George took many trips around the country in their RV, most often to spend time with their children and grandchildren. Connie was an avid club member, always staying active and involved in the community, including her prayer group, Living Waters; her writing club, The Word Weavers; and The Bookworms Book Club. She was also a longtime, dedicated member of Westside Baptist Church, sharing her beautiful voice as an alto in the church choir for almost 25 years. Connie always kept herself busy, but never failed to make time for phone calls with her daughter, Betsy, or her best friend, Jan.

Connie is survived by her two children, Evan Pryce and Betsy (Pryce) Murray; her son-in-law, Daniel Murray; her four grandchildren, Brent, Alexa, Taegan, and Kaiya; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Ethel Hardy; her brother, Don Hardy; and her beloved husband,
Reverend George Pryce.
