Jean G. Rabe, age 93, from Hope New Jersey, formerly from Craftsbury Common Vermont passed away peacefully under the compassionate care of the Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice at Hackettstown Medical Center on October 14th 2026.
Jean is survived by her son Christopher Rabe and wife Kathleen of Craftsbury Common VT, son Timothy Rabe and wife Karin of Andover NJ, son Geoffrey Rabe of Sparta NJ and son in law Philip Kurpiewski of Hopatcong NJ. She also leaves behind grandchildren Marie and Evelyn Kurpiewski, Tyler and wife Emily Rabe, Benjamin Rabe, Emily and husband Peter Heisig, Melissa and husband Andre Ansah, Steven and wife Kayla Rabe, Jordan and wife Leandra Rabe, Matthew and wife Alexa Rabe as well as greatgrandchildren Lucas and Isla Rabe, Oren, Maura, and Áine Heisig, and Bryson Ansah.
Jean is predeceased by the love of her life George B Rabe and her daughter Cynthia Kurpiewski. We have faith that they have all been reunited with God in heaven.
Jean was a dedicated and caring mother, waiting for her children to enter high school before pursuing her own career as a technical editor for Foster Wheeler Energy Co. Both Jean and George worked for Foster Wheeler and enjoyed commuting together until retirement.
Then, up to the “farm” in Vermont that she loved since she was a child. There she enjoyed time with family, golfing, her dogs, quilting, “collecting”, and traveling with George. She always approached everything with enthusiasm and fearlessness, ziplining in Mexico, parasailing in the Caribbean, and let us not forget driving with a lead foot. At over 80 years old she was stopped for 92 mph on the New York Thruway and flipped her Miata while speeding around a local road in Vermont and came out unscathed.
She lived a beautiful full life and she will truly be missed. Heaven is lucky to have her. A private celebration of life is planned.
