Eugene Ward of Washington Township, Morris County passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 30, 2022. He was 74.
“Geno” or “Moe” as he was lovingly known as was born in Scranton Pennsylvania. He was a 1966 graduate of Randolph High School. Geno served his country during the Vietnam War in the Army as an infantryman in the 101st Airborne division. After leaving the service he began his career with the post office as a mail carrier. First in Mendham as a carrier and then in Rockaway before retiring in 2001.
Moe loved going to car shows and had a special love for his Shelby GT 500. He also liked to frequent the casinos to play slot machines and watch horse racing.
Moe was an avid sports fan and he was a devoted fan of the Minnesota Vikings and the Chicago Cubs. He especially loved the West Morris Football program. Geno never missed a game when his nephew played and has continued to attend games and support the team.
Moe was well-known throughout the community and was loved and respected by all that knew him.
Moe is survived by four sisters, Shirley Hopkins and husband George of Albuquerque, NM, Alice Washington of Port Orange, FL, Ruth Savadge of Randolph, NJ, and Candy Ward of Washington Twp., NJ
Gene was predeceased by his parents Eugene and Margaret Ward, his sister, Debra Miller and his sister, June Ward.
A celebration of his life will be held at Highlands Presbyterian Church, 3 Heath Lane, Long Valley, NJ on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. A service with military honors will take place at 1:30 pm.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840.
