Barbara M. Bielski, nee Whittle, loving mother and grandmother passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2024 in Denville, NJ. She was 82.
Barbara was born December 30, 1941 in Elizabeth, NJ to the late William Whittle and Maria Senichka. She was raised in Newark and Hillside. After high school, she worked at Baker and Taylor book distributors as a Buyer where she met the love of her life, Joseph M Bielski, Sr. They married in 1964 and moved to Hackettstown in 1966. Barbara was a homemaker before she became a full-time caretaker when her husband became a quadriplegic after a diving accident in 1976. Barbara was preceded in death by her loving husband Joseph in 1999.
Together Barbara and Joseph raised two wonderful children. Son Joseph, Jr and wife Catherine Bielski and daughter Maria and husband James Ruggeri. She was also blessed with a third child, Jacqueline who preceded her in death in 1978.
Barbara was blessed with two beautiful granddaughters, Emily and Grace Bielski. She was also a grandmother to multiple furry grandchildren including Loki, Cannoli, Lexi, Opal and Violet. They all loved her very much. She was very proud of her granddaughters and always enjoyed attending their concerts and plays.
Barbara is also survived by her brother Michael Whittle and sister Patricia Adams as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews which she loved very much.
Barbara worked many years at Weis Markets in Mansfield where she made many friends and loved working with the public. She was loved and respected by all who knew her. She was an avid crocheter who took pride in making many baby blankets over the years. She loved to bake Christmas cookies for everyone and passed that love on to her daughter. In her later years, she really enjoyed watching her various television shows and was always looking for something new to watch.
She was predeceased by her siblings William, Marie, John, Joseph, Jerry and Jane.
Calling hours will be Thursday, September 5 , 2024 from 4 – 8 pm at Cochran Funeral Home, Inc., 905 High Street, Hackettstown, N.J..
A funeral mass will be held 11:30 am on Friday, September 6, 2024 at Our Lady Of The Mountain Church, 2 E. Springtown Rd, Long Valley, NJ with Father Sylwester Pierzak officiating. Burial will be in Our Lady Of The Mountain Cemetery following the service.
