Kimberly Johnson, 55, passed away on May 25, 2026 physically surrounded by her loving family.
Kim was born in Brooklyn, NY and spent her early years with her family in Staten Island, NY, Syracuse, NY, and Rockaway Township, NJ. It was during this time that Kim developed her passion for Children’s Education, Wellness, Advocacy, and Development. She took this interest to William Patterson and earned her degree in Early Childhood Education. Kim spent her adult life working with and for the betterment of children in various capacities. She worked for numerous Daycare Centers and loved it so much, that she eventually owned her own. Kim worked with many advocacy organizations to provide improvements to Children’s Mental Health and Wellness. She created a Day Care Center Worker Mentorship program holding monthly meetings and seminars for Teachers and Directors throughout the state of NJ. She eventually earned a position as a Director for National Early Head Start USA where her specialty was developing and building all natural inner-city playgrounds for multiple Early Head Start locations. As a final gift to herself, Kim spent the last few years Tutoring a tremendous group of children across the United States.
Kim is survived by her adoring husband, Rich, her children, and true reason for living, Shane and his Fiance Ashley, Emily, and Carly, her sister Jill and her wife Cheryl, nephews Nathan and Alex, father Robert and wife Vivian, cousins Paul and wife Keri and their children and grandchild, Laura and husband Brian, and Amy and wife Jules, uncle and Godfather Dennis, and many other aunts, uncles and cousins, friends, and all of the children she loved and worked so hard for.
She was preceded in death by her mother Maureen, her uncle Pat, grandmother HoHo, grandparents Pop and Grandma Dolphin, her “Heart Sister” Barbara, and her beloved Golden Retriever Molly.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 4, 2026, from 2pm – 4pm and 6pm – 8pm at Cochran Funeral Home, Inc., 905 High Street, Hackettstown, N.J.
The funeral will be held 10:00 am on Friday, June 5, 2026, at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, N.J. with Father Leopoldo Salvania officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, 85 Pleasant Hill Road, Chester, NJ 07930. Following the service.
