Keady, Donald J. October 15, 1947 - September 10, 2023

Donald J. Keady, 75, of Hope New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 10th, 2023.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Linda. They have two children, Dawn Ashworth and her husband Rob, Don Keady and his wife Kelly.

Donald and Linda have four grandchildren. Summer and Ryan Ashworth and Dominick and Jameson Keady.

Donald grew up in Fairview New Jersey. He has three siblings: Thomas Keady and his wife Linda, Noreen Fritschy (Al) and Karen Thorden.

He loved playing baseball. He received a scholarship to Fairleigh Dickinson to play catcher. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business. Donald joined the Army in 1968, and was honorably discharged on July 8th, 1974 with an expertise in rifles, specifically the M-16.

He then joined the IBEW Local Union 164 as an Electrician where he worked as a General Foreman, Project Manager, and Superintendent. He retired in 2008.

Don was an avid big game Hunter. He hunted brown bear in Kodiak Island, Alaska. He had two elk, two caribou, two mountain lions, two bear, two mountain goats and a moose, just to name a few.

Don loved country music, hunting, fishing, bow-fishing, camping and time with his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held at the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840 on Thursday, September 14, 2023 from 2:00 – 8:00 pm.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Mary, 305 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ on Friday, September 15, 2023 at 9 AM.  Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
