Ellin Jean Uhl

Ellin Jean Uhl, 80, of Hackettstown, NJ passed away on Friday, December 28, 2018 at her residence. Born in Plymouth, PA, Ellin Jean was the daughter of the late Basil & Regina Whall Skelly. Mrs. Uhl has lived in Hackettstown since 1963. Prior to her retirement, she was employed for over forty years as an English Literature and Journalism teacher at Hackettstown High School. After her teaching career at Hackettstown High School, Ellin Jean worked as a librarian at Centenary College for several years. She was a long-time parishioner of Our Lady of the Mountain Church in Schooley’s Mountain, NJ and was a member of the Rosary Alter Society and served as a Eucharistic Minister. In addition to teaching at the high school, Ellin Jean served as a cheerleading coach and was a member of the National Education Society. She adored her students and formed lasting friendships with many of them long after their graduation. Mrs. Uhl is survived by two sons; Mark Uhl of Colorado Springs and Frank Uhl of Hackettstown, NJ. One daughter, Michele Thomas and her husband Mark of Hackettstown, NJ. Her beloved grandchildren, Regina, Megan, Kelley, Paul, Colin, John, Tara, Hayley, Logan, Frank, Sean, Daniel, and Shannon. Great grandchildren; Garret, Abigail, Reilly and Issac. Mrs. Uhl was predeceased by her beloved son, Paul Uhl in 2005, her loving husband, Frank P. Uhl in November, 2018 and one brother, Basil Skelly. Viewing hours will be on Friday, January 4, 2019 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ, 07840. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at the church at 11:00am. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery. Frank P. Uhl

Frank P. Uhl, 88, of Hackettstown, NJ passed away at his residence on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Born June 29, 1930 in Nanticoke, PA, Frank was the son of the late Frank S. & Edna Mika Ulatowski.
 
He and his beloved wife, Ellin Jean Skelly Uhl moved to the Hackettstown area in 1963. Mr. Uhl retired in 1992 after 30 years of service with Sandoz-Novartis in East Hanover, NJ.  He was  involved with Biologic Control. Prior to his career,
Frank graduated from Kettering University of Flint, Michigan and Kings College in Wilkes Barre, PA. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Blueridge Post #164 American Legion and the V.F.W. of Hackettstown, NJ; Joyce Kilmer Council of the Knights of Columbus, Hackettstown, NJ and also served as an instructor in the Hunters Safety Course of Morris County, NJ. Frank was a member and Eucharistic Minister of Our Lady of the Mountain Roman Catholic Church, Schooley’s Mountain, NJ. Frank was also the supervisor of traffic control of the CCD program for Our Lady of the Mountain Church.
 
In addition to his loving wife, Ellin Jean, he is survived by two sons; Mark Uhl of Colorado Springs and Frank Uhl of Hackettstown, NJ. One daughter, Michele Thomas and her husband Mark of Hackettstown, NJ. One brother, Edmund L. Ulatowski of Kissimmee, FL; Two sisters, Sylvia Bera of Schooley’s Mtn. NJ & Marlene Saxman of Hellertown, PA. Grandchildren, Regina, Megan, Kelley, Paul, Colin, John, Tara, Hayley, Logan, Frank, Sean, Daniel, and Shannon. Great grandchildren; Garret, Abigail, Reilly and Issac. Mr. Uhl was predeceased by his beloved son, Paul Uhl in 2005.
 
A period of visitation will take place on Friday, November 16, 2018 from 4-8pm at the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ, 07840. The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 9:30 am at Our Lady of the Mountain Church, Schooley’s Mountain, NJ.
 
Interment will be held on Friday, November 30, 2018 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of the Mountain cemetery with Military Honors.

Joan A. Underhill

 Joan A. Underhill, age 64, of Hackettstown formerly of Chatham, NJ died Sunday, May 18, 2014 at Hackettstown Regional Medical Center.  Joan was born August 13, 1949 in White Plains, NY. She is the daughter of the late Arthur D. and the late Rose (Coffin) Appleby.  

Joan was a Homemaker who enjoyed reading, walking on the beach in Long Beach Island and spending time with her granddaughter, Peytyn.  

She is survived by 2 sons: Matthew Underhill and wife Caroline and Jesse Underhill; 1 sister Ann Appleby, 1 twin brother, Arthur Appleby and one granddaughter, Peytyn Underhill.

William J. Ulrichny, Sr.

William J. Ulrichny, Sr., age 94, passed away, Sunday, February 3, 2013 at House Of The Good Shepherd of Hackettstown, NJ one week after his 94th birthday.  Mr. Ulrichny was born January 27, 1919 in Newark, NJ. He is the son of the late George and the late Anna (Boeslager) Ulrichny.  Bill was also predeceased by his wife, Edna A. (Ullrich) Ulrichny who passed 2 days after her 88th birthday in 2008.

Bill served as a 1st Lieutenant in the US Army during World War II from 1942 to 1946.  He was employed by Fostners, Irvington, NJ as a Purchasing Agent for many years. He loved fishing, wood carving, photography, building and flying model airplanes and working on his computer.  He will be remembered for his “hands-on” approach to life and his sense of humor.  His final comment to everyone would be that he has simply “Gone Fishing”. 

William is survived by his daughter; Cathy Lynn Ulrichny and her husband Bob Vander Clock of Hardwick, NJ, his son; William Ulrichny and his wife Elaine of Whitehall, Montana, his sister; Carolyn Moyer of Lanoka Harbor, NJ and his brother; George Ulrichny of Stuart, FL.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 10, 2013 at 3:30 pm in the Memorial Chapel of the House of the Good Shepherd, 798 Willow Grove Street, Hackettstown, NJ with Rev. Jeanette Hile officiating.  Bill will be Entombed next to his wife, Edna at the Hackettstown Union Cemetery Mausoleum at the convenience of the family.
