Edward Anthony Oleksy

 Edward Anthony Oleksy, Jr., age 73, of Hackettstown, NJ formerly of New Haven, Connecticut died Monday, February 10, 2020 at home.  Edward was born October 3, 1946 in Bridgeport, CT to the late Edward Anthony Sr. and Mary (Balberchak) Oleksy.  

He served in the National Guard from 1969 to 1975. Edward worked the majority of his 39 year career with Warner Lambert.  He later retired as the Global Director of Fleet for Pfizer Corporation, Manhattan, NY.  Ed had a love for cars and served on the Hackettstown Recreation Commission, Volunteered at Our Lady of the Mountain Church, enjoyed playing poker with family and friends, bowling, watching his favorite TV shows and playing golf. 

He is survived by his beloved wife, Donna (Velardi) Oleksy, his cherished daughter, Bernadette Christensen and husband Robert, his loving sons, Edward A. Oleksy, III and wife Cristina,  Michael Oleksy and wife Ana, eight grandchildren, Michael, Olivia, Bobby, Lena, Bradley, Nathan, Jacob and Derek, many nieces, nephews, cousins and his dog, Cody.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:30 am on Saturday, February 15 at Our Lady of the Mountain Church, 2 E. Springtown Rd, Long Valley, NJ with Father Javier officiating.  Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Hackettstown.

Visitation will be Friday, February 14, 2020 from 4-8 pm at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ.

Sarah "Sally" H. O'Connor

Sarah Helen “Sally” O'Connor, age 83, of Toms River, NJ died peacefully Saturday, September 28, 2019 at Community Medical Center, Toms River, NJ. Sally was born November 15, 1935 in New York, NY to the late Joseph DiStefano and the late Helen Canale-DiStefano.  In addition to her parents, Sally is preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Christopher O’Connor, Jr., her devoted daughter, Joann Marie O'Connor-Katrinak and cherished grandson, Alex Martin Katrinak.

She was previously employed by Dillon, Bitar and Luther LLC, Morristown, NJ as a Legal Secretary for many years before retiring.  Sally was devoted to her catholic faith, she was a member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Toms River where she volunteered for over 20 years in their soup kitchen and food pantry serving her community and those in need.  She loved spending time at the beach and being with her family, words cannot express how deeply she will be missed.   

She is survived by loving daughter, Margaret "Peggy" Ann O'Connor-Courter and life partner, Walter Honcharenko, her two sons, David Christopher O'Connor, III and life partner, Patricia Fagan-Herbert, Michael Joseph O'Connor and wife Monica Lynn Greggs-O'Connor, three grandchildren, Jaclyn Danielle Courter, Zachary Luke O'Connor and Elissa Nicole O'Connor.

The funeral will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ with Father David Pekola officiating.  Burial will follow at Pequest Union Cemetery, Great Meadows, NJ.

William I O'Hern

William I O'Hern, age 69, of Long Valley, NJ died Thursday, August 22, 2019 at Merry Heart Nursing Home of Succasunna, NJ.  William was born September 7, 1949 in Livingston, NJ. He is the son of the late William H. and the late Norma (Cornine) O'Hern.  He married Ellen Schoen.

Arthur A. Ottimo

Arthur A. Ottimo, 75, of Hackettstown, New Jersey, peacefully passed away on Friday, September 28^th 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Born in the Bronx, New York, on January 13, 1943, Arthur was the son of the late Attilio Ottimo and Brunetta Gravina Ottimo and the brother of the late Adele Ottimo Neu. At age 16, Arthur moved to Bergenfield, New Jersey with his family, where he attended Bergenfield High School and Farleigh Dickinson University.

Arthur served his country for two years in the United States Army. He fought overseas in Vietnam and Korea. In 1965, he married Marlene Bavosa. 

Arthur was a well-respected business man who touched many people’s lives. His career spanned 50 years in the hardware industry.

Sports were an important part of Arthur’s life whether it be playing, coaching, or enjoying being a spectator. He was a 20 year member of Panther Valley Golf and Country Club and an avid golfer. Other interests include vacationing and gambling, but what was most important to Arthur, was spending time with his family.

Arthur is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marlene, and his three children; Audra Sarafin and husband Robert, Arthur Ottimo and wife Natalie, and Michele Merrick and husband Ryan as well as 7 grandchildren; Andrew, Brian, Ashleigh, Robbie, Rose, Jack, and Logan.

A mass will be held at Good Shepard Roman Catholic Church, 48 Tranquility Road, Andover at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday October 3, 2018. A Celebration of Life will follow at Mattar’s Bistro on Route 517, Hackettstown.

Robert Barker Ort MD, 79, of Manasquan, NJ, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2018 after a long illness, surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born June 29, 1938 in Easton, PA and raised in Hackettstown, NJ. He graduated from Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA and went on to attend Hahnemann Medical School in Philadelphia, PA graduating in 1965. He served as a Physician in the U.S. Navy stationed at Quantico, VA from 1966 - 68. He practiced Radiology for 40+ years at the Summit Medical Group and Newark Beth Israel. While always enjoying a love of family, he was a Master Gardener with a passion for growing tomatoes and a lover of music including Dixieland Jazz. He was the son of the late Charles and Eleanor (Cochran) Ort and predeceased by his brothers Charles and David Ort. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Judy, his four children, Jennifer (Kevin) Cahill of Atlanta, GA Joanna (Fred) Kotar of Brielle, NJ, Robert (Stephanie) Ort of Hackettstown, NJ, Jill Ort (Neal Allen) of Louisville, KY and five grandchildren, Meredith Cahill of Atlanta, GA, Andrew Cahill of Washington, D.C., Maeve Cahill of Atlanta, GA, Ethan Kotar of Brielle, NJ and Benjamin Kotar of Brielle, NJ and his sister, Joyce Berninger of Clearwater, FL. Thomas G. Oakes, Sr., 69 of Andover, NJ, passed away at home on Monday, November 13, 2017. Born April 6, 1948 in Dover, NJ, Thomas was the son of the late Roy & Francis Campbell Oakes. Tom has lived in Andover, NJ for the past 43 years coming from Budd Lake, NJ. Mr. Oakes was employed by the Frelinghuysen Twp. Board of Education for many years as a custodian. In addition, he proudly served our country in the United States Army from 1969 to 1971 and was a member of the American Legion Post #278 in Stanhope, NJ. Thomas is survived by his loving wife, Doris Walton Oakes at home; one son, Thomas G. Oakes, Jr. and his wife, Erin of Washington, NJ and three beautiful grandchildren, Zachary, Lucas & Jacob. Helen Viola Ouellette

 Helen Viola Ouellette, age 93, of Bentley Commons at Paragon Village, Hackettstown died peacefully at home Friday, March 17, 2017.  Mrs. Ouellette was born April 21, 1923 in Phillipsburg, NJ. She is the daughter of the late Charles and Stella (Katkovska) Kumpicki.  In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her beloved husband Lawrence Ouellette, her dear brother, Henry Kumpicki and her cherished grandson, Scott Winfield. 

Helen was a School teacher for the Hackettstown High School for 36 years in their History Department.  While teaching she was active with the Hackettstown Student Council, Helen wrote news articles for the Star Gazette, she was an avid reader and news buff.  She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Educators Sorority for 50 years, Helen was a lifelong learner who always annotated in the margins of a book any interesting information she would come across.  She will be a deeply missed pillar of the Hackettstown Community.

She is survived by loving daughter, Laureen Winfield and husband James, her loving grandson, James Winfield and wife Amy, 5 grandchildren: Scott, Luke, Asher, Micah and Avyn, a niece Patricia Tranchese and a great niece, Dawn Whetsel and husband Dane.

Visitation will be held at the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840 on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.

 Marie E. Ohlson, age 96, of Ledgewood NJ died Saturday, February 18, 2017.  Marie was born September 16, 1920 in Newark, NJ and grew up in Montgomery NY. She is the daughter of the late Xavier and the late Elizabeth (Armbraster) Schmidt.  She was predeceased in death by her husband Arthur G. Ohlson.    

She is survived by her daughter & Son In Law, Valerie & Steven Miele, her grandchildren Marlana Farina, Monique Iacobacci, Stephen Miele, Nicholas & Kimberly Miele.  She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Daniel, Jared, Joseph, and Steven Matthew Farina, Joshua, & Jacob Miele and numerous nieces, nephews and friends

 Kathleen E. O'Brien, age 79, of Hackettstown, NJ died Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Hackettstown Regional Medical Center, Hackettstown, NJ.  Mrs. O'Brien was born March 7, 1937 in Jersey City, NJ. She was the daughter of the late William and Catherine (Smith) McClellan.  In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her beloved husband John Joseph O'Brien, her Brother, James McClellan, 2 sisters, Dolores McClellan, Margaret “Peggy” Twohey and a granddaughter, Faith Liseth O'Brien.

She was previously employed by Westinghouse, Randolph, NJ as an Order Writer, prior to that she was employed as a Realtor for Abromitis Century 21 of Hackettstown, NJ.  Kathy enjoyed playing Mah-jongg and Bridge with friends, doing the daily crossword puzzles and traveling. 

She is survived by her 3 devoted sons, John M. O’Brien and wife Judith, Patrick O'Brien, Kevin O’Brien and wife Tessa, 6 grandchildren, Joshua Solomon, Daniel Solomon, John Michael O'Brien Jr., Shane Thomas O'Brien, Patrick Martin O'Brien III, Maggie Grace O'Brien and a great grandson, Jack Solomon,

Katherine T. Onieal

 Katherine T Onieal (Kay) passed away on January 19, 2017 at peace and with her family at her side.she would proudly claim her age to be 94 and a half ... Born 7/14/22 in New York City to Michael and Henrietta Ganley,

She lived a long and fulfilled life- she just touched everyone-- she had that way about her. She graduated from St Patricks Cathedral elementary and high school which she was always proud say. She maintained so many of her friends from Eastern Airlines where she worked for a decade in the 70's. At age 79, she travelled for weeks to the 911 tragedy with a church group to serve food to the first responders.. she wore a hard hat and gas mask and was proud of it.. She never missed a concert with Father Alphonse Orchestra or an opportunity to hear Joe Finn at the Jersey Shore ... Oh, how she loved the Jersey Shore! She never forgot a name; she could always start a conversation with anyone... She profoundly believed in God and practiced her religion until the end.

She married on February 23, 1943 to Eugene Onieal (1920-1995). Surviving children are Thomas (Barbara), Doylestown PA; Katherine M Onieal, Muncie, Indiana; Marianne Onieal Maher, Alpha, NJ; Robert Onieal, Greensboro, NC; Chris Onieal, New York City; Eileen Onieal Hogan ( Robert), Hackettstown, NJ; and Michael Onieal, Muncie, Indiana. 

Also surviving are her 8 grandchildren: Meredith Maher, State College, PA; Lindsay Hogan, Washington, DC; Cameron Hogan, Hackettstown, NJ; John Onieal, New York City; Julianna Onieal, New York City; Murphy Onieal, Winston-Salem, NC; Jackson Onieal, Muncie, Indiana; and Owen Onieal, Muncie, Indiana.

Family preceding her in death beside her parents include her brother, Johnny Ganley, and sisters Jane Werner and Margaret Scarry and Thomas Ganley.

Arline I. O'Malley, age 91, of Hackettstown, NJ died Friday, October 21, 2016 at House of the Good Shepherd, Hackettstown. Arline was born November 20, 1924 in Woodbridge, NJ. She is the daughter of the late Russell B. and Viola (Beckman) Parkstrom, Sr. She is preceded in death by her husband, James W. O'Malley, her brother, Russell B. “Bert” Parkstorm, Jr., and her sister in law, Margaret Parkstrom. Arline was a loving and devoted homemaker who loved to bake, travel and spend time with family and friends. She was a former member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Barnegat, NJ. Arline was of Swedish descent and in 1949 she made her way to Sweden to meet family there, enjoyed it so much that she returned in 1951. Stay this time for 3 months where she dedicated herself to learning the language of her ancestors and by the time she returned to America she spoke fluent Swedish. Before the birth of her first child, she enjoyed a 15-year career as an executive secretary. She is survived by her son; Brian and his wife Ann, 2 daughters; Christine Antoine and her husband Guy, Kathleen O'Malley and husband Gaylord Fields, 5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandsons, and many cousins. Brian S. Olson

 Brian S. Olson, age 45, of Washington, NJ died unexpectedly  Monday, October 17, 2016 at home in Washington.  Brian was born September 29, 1971 in Valley Stream, NY moving to Mansfield, NJ in 1976. Brian graduated from Warren Hills High School in 1990. He was a devoted husband to Sue and loving father to Brianna. Brian was preceded in death by his father Melvin. 

Brian led a full life volunteering as a fireman and ultimately became Chief of the Tri-County Firehouse in Mansfield, NJ.  He moved to Washington, NJ in 2009.  He was the Superintendent of Public Works in Chester, NJ.  He leaves an accomplished legacy contributing to the building of the Tri-County Fire Company, Tiki huts, pizza ovens, decks, roofs, barns, fences and supported many families home improvement projects selflessly.  He was a true supporter and partial owner Quik Check where he enjoyed a good cup of coffee or a Snapple.  Brian was the founder of Uber as he was always the Designated Driver for anyone who needed a ride.

Brian is survived by his beloved mother; Margaret Olson, his devoted wife; Sue, his cherished daughter Brianna Courter and her husband Joseph, 1 sister; Pam Mulrooney, 1 nephew; Ryan Mulrooney, 2 uncles; Stewart Sutton and Mike Wolfe, many aunts, uncles , cousins and countless friends

Robert M. Oshrin, M.D.

 Robert M. Oshrin M.D., age 87, of Hackettstown, NJ died Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at Merry Heart Nursing Home of Succasunna, NJ.  Robert was born May 17, 1928 in Hoboken, NJ. He is the son of the late Dr. Henry and Betty (Nuddle) Oshrin of West New York, New Jersey.  He married Joyce A.Schneider.  

He is a graduate of Washington and Lee HS in Arlington, VA., Rutgers University and University of Buffalo Medical School (1954) where he was inducted to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He completed his internship in Buffalo (1955) and Obstetrics and Gynecology residency in NYC in 1958 and then spent 2 years as a Captain in the Air Force at Selfridge Air Force Base, Michigan where he was the base OB/GYN chairman. Dr. Oshrin opened an OB/GYN practice in Dover, New Jersey in 1960 and was affiliated with Dover General Hospital. In 1961 he joined the practice of OB/GYN of Dr. Joseph Shanik in Dover New Jersey, after that opened and maintained a practice at the Roxbury Medical Group with Dr. Joseph Wallis in Succasunna. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of OB/GYN, a member of the Morris County Medical Society, New Jersey Medical Society, American Medical Association and American College of OB/GYN. He was awarded the New Jersey Golden Merit Award by the Medical Society of New Jersey.  Also, early member of Roxbury Reformed Temple in Succasunna, New Jersey.

Dr. Oshrin lived most of his life in Succasunna, NJ and retired in 1986. Robert and his wife moved to Panther Valley, Allamuchy, New Jersey where they were members of the Panther Valley Golf and Country Club. He was a golfer and also on the environmental commuter committee for many years.

Dr. Oshrin and his wife Joyce were married on June 20, 1954 at the Essex House in Newark, New Jersey and celebrated their 61^st wedding anniversary last year.

He is survived by his wife: Joyce A. (Schneider) Oshrin , 2 sons; Richard Oshrin and his wife Carrie, Ronald Oshrin and his wife Stacey, 3 grandchildren; Alex, Brianna and Jill Oshrin, brother in law; Dr. Bernard Schneider and his wife Helju, sister in law; Roberta Schneider, lifelong friend and cousin; Stanley Henig, many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.

Linda A Oakes, age 67, of Hackettstown died Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at St. Barnabas Medical Center of Livingston, NJ. Linda was born March 4, 1947 in Havre-de Grace, MD. She is the daughter of the late Esther (Fadeley) Walton. She was predeceased by her husband, Roy Oakes Jr. in 1999 and also by 2 Brothers; Nelson Hansen, and Walter Walton, Jr. After moving to Hackettstown in 1968 from Port Morris, NJ. She became an active member of the Hackettstown Baptist Church. Linda was employed by Hackettstown Regional Medical Center as a Registrar and was a former General Manager at McDonalds in Hackettstown for 35 years. She is survived by one son; Roy III and wife Kimberly Oakes, two daughters; Laura and husband Eric Fichter, Joy and husband Thomas Buchanan, one sister; Doris Oakes, two brothers; Paul and Chester Walton, 5 grandchildren; Jesse, Alyssa, Roy IV, Tommy, and Sarah. Joseph “Marty” O'Dowd, age 88, of Hackettstown formerly of Pinebrook, NJ died Monday, January 12, 2015 at home. Marty was born February 22, 1926 in Caldwell, NJ. He is the son of the late Daniel and Mary (Gormley) O'Dowd. Marty was also predeceased by 2 sisters: Rosemary Schmitt and Rita Romanowski. He served in the Army during World War II from 1945 to 1946. He worked in the dairy business for O'Dowd’s Dairy, Pinebrook, NJ and Farmland Dairy, Wallington, NJ. Marty was an active member of Our Lady of the Mountain Church, Long Valley, NJ and enjoyed working and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife: Anna Mae (Cavanaugh) O'Dowd, 2 sons; Joseph and wife Mary Anne, Daniel and wife Jaqueline, 5 grandchildren; Joseph, Daniel, Christopher, Lexie and Jack. A funeral mass will be held 12:30 pm on Thursday, January 15 at Our Lady of the Mountain Church, 2 East Springtown Rd., Long Valley, NJ with Rev. Msg. Joseph Goode officiating. Mildred V. Ort

Mildred V. Ort, 96, of Hackettstown, NJ died Sunday, July 27, 2014 surrounded by her loving family and friends.  Born November 19, 1917 in Hackettstown, Mildred was the daughter of the late William & Charlotte Orr Vey.

A lifelong resident of Hackettstown, Mildred was a graduate of Hackettstown High School and Centenary College.  Both she and her late beloved husband of over 74 years, Paul L. Ort, were active members of the First Presbyterian Church of Hackettstown where she previously served as a Deacon.  She was a member of Skytop Country Club, Skytop, PA. and an avid Bridge player that enjoyed entertaining her ladies card group at home.

Mildred is survived by two sons, Thomas W. Ort of Leland, NC and Michael P. Ort with whom she lived.  A sister, Christine Sorgini and her husband Richard of Lake Worth, FL.  Two loving grandsons, Craig T. Ort of Clinton, NJ and Scott T. Ort of Saulk City, WI.  In addition to her husband Paul L. Ort (2009), she is predeceased by her brothers, Robert & Raymond Vey.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, July 30, 2014 from 5 – 7pm at the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High St., Hackettstown, NJ, 07840.  Graveside services will be Thursday, 11am at Union Cemetery, Hackettstown, NJ with the Reverend Birda Ferguson presiding. Leslie Jean (Lee) O'Brien

 Leslie Jean (Lee) O’Brien passed away at Morristown Memorial Hospital on July 23, 2014 after a long illness.

She was born in 1957 in Trenton NJ, and later moved with her family to Cooperstown, NY, and Chatham, NJ. Leslie graduated from Chatham High School.

She maintained a home in Liberty Township, NJ for many years.

In 2010, Lee suffered a debilitating illness, which she courageously fought until her death.

She was predeceased by her mother Ruth, and is survived by her father, Ken of Chatham, sisters, Kerry of Chatham Township and Colleen Kelleher, brother-in-law Bill Kelleher, and nephew Will of Pennington, NJ, cousins Michael and Denise O’Brien of Bristol, RI, Patti Jean Theroux of Cape Cod, MA, and her devoted Aunt Virginia Fitzgerald of Melrose, MA.

She is also survived by her two most devoted friends and caregivers, Roger Degroat and Gina Kressler.

Lee, a lifelong compassionate animal lover is also survived by her current canine companions Addie, Fitzy, and Gidion.

The family requests those who wish may make a contribution in memory of Lee to St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center, at PO Box 129, Madison NJ, 07940.

Graveside services and burial will be on Saturday, August 2, 2014, at 11:00 AM at the Pequest Union Cemetery in Great Meadows New Jersey.

A memorial mass will be scheduled by the family at a later date.

Kenneth G. Oakley

 Kenneth Oakley, age 61, of Hackettstown, NJ formerly of Livingston, NJ passed away peacefully after a long illness while in the loving care of his wife and children Thursday, March 27, 2014.  Kenneth was born May 19, 1952 in East Orange, NJ. He is the son of the late Robert and Eleanor (Ehinger) Oakley.  He was married to Cathleen "Cate" (Sullivan) Oakley. 

He worked for the US Postal Service, Kenvil, NJ as a Postal Clerk retiring in 2007. Ken spent most of his postal career in the Hackettstown Post Office, Hackettstown, NJ.  He was an avid baker and enjoyed woodworking, classic cars and spending time at the shore. 

He is survived by his wife, Cathleen "Cate" (Sullivan) Oakley. Three children, sons Ryan and Kevin Oakley and his daughter Caitlin Oakley. One brother, Wayne Oakley. Sister-in-law; Beth Friedberg and her husband Bill. Brother in law Matthew Sullivan. Nieces; Rebecca Hein, Erin Friedberg, Megan Lynch, Cristin Oakley and Buffy Oakley-Smith, 1 nephew; Tim Oakley. Lastly, his beloved dogs; Rory, Corky and Maggie.  

Visitation will be held at the Cochran Funeral 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ  07840 on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.  A funeral service will be held at 8 pm, Tuesday April 1, 2014 with the Rev. Joseph McCarthy officiating. Cremation will be private.

Lynn E. Oakley, 66, of Hackettstown, NJ died peacefully at his residence on February 2, 2014. Born February 13, 1947 in Orange, NJ, he was the son of the late Howard and Elizabeth McIlmurray Oakley, Jr.. Lynn lived in Hackettstown for the part 10 years, coming from Lake Tranquility, NJ where he and his wife, Nancy Burns Oakley, raised their family. In addition to his Wife, Nancy, He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Ryan C. Oakley Sr and Jennifer Oakley; daughter and son-in-law Tara Lynn Mitchell and Robert Mitchell II. He will be greatly missed by five grandchildren: Ryan C. Oakley Jr, Riess Lynn Oakley, London Elizabeth Cutler, Willa Mae Mitchell and J.R. Mitchell II. Michael O'Mara, 55 of the Panther Valley section of Allamuchy, N.J., died at home on Friday, 10-11-13 after a brief illness.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on August 10, 1958, he was the son of the late Thomas & Ann Caparelli O'Mara.
Michael has lived in the greater Hackettstown area for the past 21 years coming from Wharton, N.J. and was raised in  Lake Parsippany, N.J..
For the past 15 years Michael has been the Managing Partner at Lee Myles Transmissions and Auto Care of Rockaway, N.J..
He is survived by his wife, Martha Schoer O'Mara, one son - Thomas M. O'Mara and two daughters - Melissa Ann O'Mara and Jamie Lynn O'Mara..  Last but not least, Mike leaves behind his four legged family members, his dog Prancer and his cat, Toby.
A memorial visitation and service will take place on Wednesday, 10-16-13 from 4 - 8pm at the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High St., Hackettstown, N.J.07840 with services beginning at 8:00pm.

Carolyn J. O'Rourke

Carolyn J. O'Rourke, 63 of Hackettstown, NJ died on September 4, 2013 at her residence in Hackettstown, NJ.  Born on January 30, 1950 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Clifford and Vera (Beck) Bryn. 

Carolyn received her B. A. Degree from Centenary College, where she was top of her class and graduated as the Valedictorian.  She was the owner/operator of the Distinguished Dog's  Pet Gallery in Hackettstown, NJ for over 35 years. Her favorite saying was "After being owned by a poodle - - everything else is just a Dog!" Carolyn J. O'Rourke, Cabryn Poodles.   Carolyn lived in Hackettstown, NJ since the late 1970's coming from Budd Lake, NJ. She was President for 14 years of the Watchung Mountain Poodle Club; she was a 3x named AKC Top Miniature Poodle Breeder of the years, 2004, 2009 and 2012; she bred poodles under the kennel prefix name Cabryn and finished  over 118 champions to her name.

She is survived by a son William "Scott" O'Rourke, Hackettstown, NJ and his companion Terri Quinn; daughter Wendy and husband Patrick Grogan of Hackettstown, NJ; brothers Peter Bryn, Budd Lake, NJ, Eric Bryn, Hellertown, PA and Douglas Bryn, Windsor, NY; a sister Ingrid Deskovick, Ramona, CA and 3 grandchildren.  Carolyn was predeceased by 2 brothers, Clifford and Kenneth Bryn. Throughout her life Carolyn also fostered many children. 

Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 10, 2013, 2:00 - 4:00 PM and 7:00 - 9:00 PM at the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High St., Hackettstown, NJ 07840. The funeral service will be held at 8:00 PM during the evening visitation.

Interment will be private.

Jane P. O'Neill (nee Quinn) passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on March 14, 2013.  She was 92.  She was born at home in Port Murray, NJ, on August 11, 1920, the youngest of five children of Catherine Quinn (nee Burke) and Matthew Quinn.

She was married to her beloved husband, the late Cornelius J. "Neil" O'Neill, Jr. on August 22, 1943, in Austin, Texas.  Neil died on May 18, 1995.

She graduated from Hackettstown High School, Hackettstown, Class of 1938.

Jane was a lifelong member of Church of the Assumption, Hackettstown.

Jane is survived by her loving children:  Cornelius J. "Tex" O'Neill III and his wife, Eleanor, of Monroe, NC; Kevin M. O'Neill and his wife, Lenee, of Hackettstown; Jane Q. O'Neill of Hackettstown; James P. O'Neill and his wife, Lynn, of New Providence; Regina K. Judge and her husband, Peter, of Great Meadows; and Eileen H. Carson and her husband, John, of Highlands Ranch, CO.  She is further survived by her loving grandchildren: C.J. O'Neill IV and his wife, Van, of Mint Hill, NC; Rory S. and Connell Q. O'Neill of Monroe, NC; Jennifer L. O'Neill and her fiance, Alejandro Pieroni, of New Brunswick NJ; January L. Gandley and her husband, Matthew, of Hackettstown; Jared M. O'Neill and his wife, Robyn, of Breckenridge, CO; Shannon M. Judge of Parsippany; Kevin P. Judge and his wife, Meredith, of Hershey, PA; and MacKenzie C., Ainsley A., and Liam Carson of Highlands Ranch, CO.  She is also survived by five great-grandchildren:  Jennifer E. and Christina J. O'Neill of Mint Hill, NC; Anna M. and Ella G. Bizzozero of Hackettstown; and Eleanoire R. Judge of Hershey.  There are many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews, and Aunt Jane especially wished to remember Francis J. Burke Jr. and Thomas J. Quinn.

Dorothy M. Obsharski -  84, of Andover, N.J., died Tuesday, 2-12-13 at her residence. Dorothy was born June 22, 1928 in Jersey City, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Anthony & Antoinette Narucka Pawlowski.

Dorothy lived in the Great Meadows section of Independence Twp., N.J. most of her adult life and was a member of St. Nicholas Ukranian Church, Great Meadows, NJ. 

She is survived by her son Joseph and his wife, Monica of Branchville, N.J. as well as 3 loving Grandchildren; Monique Obsharski, Erica & Wesley Smith.  Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Michael, in 1994 and her daughter,
Marie Steckel in 1999.

Beverly Ort

Beverly “Bev” Ort, 59 of Canastota passed away Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse. Born in Oxford, N.J., Bev has been a resident of the Chittenango-Canastota area the past 33 years.

She had been a nanny for the Ojugbeli family in Chittenango for 6 years and previously was employed for over 10 years at the former Kopp’s Canteen Restaurant in Chittenango. Bev was a member of the Believers Chapel in Canastota.

Surviving are her daughter, Jillian Near of Canastota, her son, Brandon (Deanna) Ort of Canastota, her former husband, John Barry Ort of Elmira, her step-sons, John Douglas (Michelle) Ort of Oxford, NJ and Robert (Carol) Ort of Mystic, CT., her sisters, Georgeanne Decker and Debra Schelling both of Washington, NJ, a grandson, Brady Ort, 3 step-grandchildren David, John Douglas Jr. and Holly Ort and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Patricia Decker and her brother Dennis Decker.

Funeral services will be 6:00 pm Saturday, January 26, 2013 at the G.F. Zimmer Funeral Home, 702 Legion Drive, Chittenango. Calling hours will be 3-6 pm Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.

An additional visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 from 6-8 pm at the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ.  A graveside service and burial will be held at Port Murray Cemetery, Mansfield, NJ on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 11 am.

Charles F. O'Connor

Charles "Chip" O'Connor, of Mansfield Township, NJ passed away at the age of 66 Monday, January 7, 2013 after a long battle with cancer.

Chip, as he was affectionately known, was married to Eileen O'Connor and resided in Mansfield Township.  Born in Bayonne, NJ., Chip was raised on Bertrand's Island in Lake Hopatcong.  He enjoyed many of the activities that living by the lake provided, particularly boat racing.  He was an avid car enthusiast and a seasoned hunter.  Chip loved to travel and share stories from his adventures in Alaska.  In his later years, nothing gave him more enoyment than his grandchildren. He worked many years in the construction field before becoming a Construction Official. 

Survived by his spouse: Eileen O'Connor, sons, Sean and wife Melanie, Apopka, FL; Brian  Giovati, Greer, SC;  daughter Kim O'Connor of Pennsylvania; step-sons, Andrew Kmec and wife Dana,  Stanhope, NJ; Brian Kmec and wife Shanna , Billings, MT.; Chip left behind eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  Also survived by six siblings, Robert J. O’Connor, Jr. and wife Lois, Mt. Arlington, NJ; Richard O’Connor and wife Debra,  Mt. Arlington, NJ; James O’Connor, Stanhope,  NJ;  William O’Connor and wife Carolyn, Hopatcong, NJ;  Elizabeth  O'Connor and Kathleen O’Connor, Mt. Arlington, NJ; as well as sixteen cherished nieces and nephews.  He was pre-deceased by his father, Robert J. O'Connor, Sr. in 1979 and mother, Stella Keating O'Connor in 1989.

The famly will be receiving those who wish to express their condolences  at the  Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, (Rt. 517) Hackettstown, N.J. with visitation and services on Saturday, January 12, 2013 from 9:00 AM until service time at 10:15 AM.  Interment will immediately follow at the  Stanhope Union Cemetery, Stanhope, NJ.

Eleanor Ormsby

Eleanor Ormsby, 91, of Long Valley passed away Friday, January 4, 2013, at Morristown Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Kulpmont, PA, a daughter of the late Magdelana and Joseph Zurinski. In 1942 she met Jeremiah Ormsby of Bayonne, NJ, and married him six months later. They celebrated sixty years together before he departed this life in 2002. She enjoyed a long career at Westinghouse Elevator Co. as an Executive Administrative Assistant to the Controller.

She was a quiet yet strong woman of great faith who loved life and lived its every moment. The youngest of 6 children, Eleanor lost her mother at age 7 and her father when she was 14. Her neighbors and family helped her in her early years, and for all the goodness she received in those years, she endlessly gave of herself. She loved helping others.

She was a devout member of Our Lady of the Mountain RC Church in Long Valley and its Rosary Society.

Eleanor was an avid reader, a talented cookie baker, an active Rosary Society member, and loved spending time in her garden. Anyone fortunate to have known Eleanor will tell you of her graceful demeanor and kind heart.

Survivors include her two daughters, Barbara Conroy and her husband, Michael and Kathy Caviston and her husband, John; six grandchildren - Kristen Simon (Ernie), Casey Conroy, Shannon White (Andrew), Sean Conroy (Dyana), Brian Caviston, Kevin Caviston (Jacqueline) and four great grandchildren, Jerry, Charlotte, Lily, and Finlay.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at Our Lady of the Mountain RC Church , 2 East Springtown Road, Long Valley, NJ.

James W. O'Malley

James Walsh O'Malley -  88, of Hackettstown, N.J., died on 12-8-12 at House of the Good Shepherd where he and his loving wife, Arline have lived since 2009.

Born 08/28/1924 in Atlantic City, N.J. he was the son of the late Patrick & Winifred Walsh O'Malley. James grew up in Atlantic City, NJ,  Ventnor, NJ, Margate, NJ, Long Branch, NJ and Elizabeth, NJ. where he graduated from Thomas A. Edison High School. He married Arline Parkstrom in 1957 and lived in Rahway, NJ before settling with his family in West Orange, NJ for 30 years. James and his wife lived in retirement in Manahawkin, NJ for 16 years before coming to Hackettstown.

 Before his retirement,he was employed by Graphic Equipment Corp., Metuchen, N.J. as a machinist. Prior to this employment, James had worked for International Union Operating Engineers, Local # 15 of Union Square, N.Y.C. assisting in the revitalization projects of the New York City and Jersey City waterfronts.

James proudly served in the U.S. Air Force in the China Burma India Theater and Pacific Theater during WW II and in the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1952 as a S/Sgt. He was a member and served as Post Commander of  VFW Post 10092, Barnaget, N.J.

Mr. O'Malley was a train enthusiast and a member of the Pine Creek R.R. Association for many years. He was a voracious reader and collector of old books having learned the art of bookbinding as a young man in Rahway, NJ

He is survived by his Wife, Arline I. Parkstrom O'Malley - Hackettstown, N.J., 1 son - Brian O'Malley and his wife Ann - Shawnee, Pa., 2 Daughters - Christine Antoine and her husband Guy - Cary, N.C. & Kathleen O'Malley and her husband Gaylord Fields - Jersey City, N.J., Brother - Thomas O'Malley and his wife Barbara - Clark, N.J.,  & 5 loving Grandchildren.  He was predeceased by his brother, Eamon and 4 sisters, Eleanor O'Malley, Winifred Gould,  Anna Kapral & Patricia Reuter.

Joseph Ognibene, age 90, of Mansfield Township, NJ died Saturday, June 16,  2012 at Warren Haven Nursing Home. Joseph was born April 10, 1922 in Newark, NJ. He is the son of the late Mario and Angelina (Vicino) Ognibene. He was predeceased by his wife, Theresa (Ray) Ognibene in 2000.

He was employed by Metal Alloys, Newark, NJ as an Accountant in the Bookkeeping Department, previously he was employed at Boker Manufacturing in Newark, NJ.
Joseph was of the Catholic faith. He was raised in Irvington and Newark, NJ. Joseph was involved in the P.A.L. in Irvington, NJ

He is survived by a Daughter, Angel and her husband John Lavin, Hackettstown, NJ; 1 Sister, Rose Veglia, Barnegat, NJ; 2 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held 9:00 am on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at St. Mary's Church Of The Assumption, 305 High Street, Hackettstown, N.J. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ on Wednesday, June 20 following the Mass.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, June 19, 2012 from 5:00pm-8:00pm at Cochran Funeral Home, Inc., 905 High Street, Hackettstown, N.J.
